Program
Lisa
Tipton, Violinist and co-founder of the award winning Meridian
String Quartet has toured internationally and held residencies
at Queens College, Bard College, Turtle Bay Music School and
the Yale at Norfolk Summer Festival.
She
has won distinctions from the Evian International Competition,
Artists International
and Chamber Music America and has performed chamber music with
Paul Neubauer, Seymour Lipkin, Daniel Phillips, Charles Wadsworth
and William Sharp.

She
has performed as soloist with The Bronx Symphony, NY Chamber
Orchestra, The Eric Hawkins Dance Company, at the Bach Aria Festival,
has toured extensively with the Manhattan Piano Trio, and is
a member of Solisti New York.
As
a devoted interpreter of new music she established the Made in
America series at Weill Recital
Hall and has performed on the “Interpretations” series
at Merkin Concert Hall. Currently she is the Director of the
New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program and on the faculty
of School for Strings. She has been heard on WQXR and WNYC,
is recorded on LRC, Midder Music, Arizona and her recording
of the
Violin and Piano sonatas of Charles Ives will be released by
Capstone Records in 2005.
Lisa
Tipton earned her MA from Queens College, The Aaron Copland School
of Music and has studied
with Roman Totenberg, Ani Kavafian,
Joyce Robbins, Gerald Beal,
Joey Corpus and the Juilliard String Quartet. She received her BA from Cornell
University where she was a College Scholar, won a Mellon Foundation Grant
for Environmental Science research and was co-chairperson of
an adventure organization,
Wilderness Reflections. She resides in Sunnyside Gardens, NY with her husband
Sebu, daughter Adrianna and toy poodle, Brownie. |
