musicians of college age. Most are matriculated at major
music schools and conservatories around the United States, including:

NYSMF
enjoys a high counselor-to-student ratio, ensuring there
will always be a "big brother" or a "big sister" available
to help with any of life's little problems, as well as being
fully qualified to coach top-quality musical ensembles.
Many
of our counselors were once campers and students themselves.
They all fully understand the rules, policies, and exacting
standards of NYSMF behavior, and stand ready to assist the
faculty, conductors, visiting artists, and administration
in making NYSMF the finest, friendliest, and most memorable
summer experience ever.

ages 15 and up. Each position has rigid requirements that every
applicant must meet in order to be considered.

All NYSMF Staff members must fulfill the following duties:

Arrive early for training and preparation for the festival

Remain after the end of the festival to assist in cleanup and closing-down the festival (CITs and FAs excepted)

Attend all three sessions of the Festival (FAs excepted)

Live in festival dorms to supervise festival students
-
Serve as role models and mentors to festival students
-
Uphold, enforce, and follow all NYSMF rules & regulations
Additional job responsibilities may be assigned or required based on skills, qualifications, and other factors. |
Staff members are subject to ongoing performance evaluations and may be dismissed or promoted at any time at the discretion of the NYSMF Administration.

limited number of Teaching Assistant positions are available to
advanced college or graduate students who are extremely strong
players and interested in developing their teaching skills.

of dormitories
- Supervision of counseling staff

as head librarian for various ensembles

CONCERT
CREW (C.C.)
A
limited number of positions are available for Concert Crew workers.
Requirements |
- 18 years of age or older
- Qualify for a COUNSELOR position
- Experience in technical theatre/backstage work
|
Responsibilities |
- Responsible
for all equipment used by the New York Summer Music Festival, including maintenance, supervision, tracking, etc.
- Report
directly to the NYSMF administration
- Work
closely with our conductors and faculty members to ensure
smooth rehearsals and performance
- Setup and breakdown for all ensembles, rehearsals, and concerts
- Earlier arrival and later departure dates than other staff members to participate in Festival setup, technical setup, and close-down

limited number of FA positions are available.
Requirements |
- Applicants

for concerts
- Must
complete between four and eight hours of assigned duties
per week
