Filmmaking Class Premiere
NYSMF 2007 Session 3

August, 3, 2007 -- 6:00pm -- the time of the the most horrifying equipment failure in the entire history of Oneonta. Even the failure of the original NYSMC's sewage system in 1955 cannot compare to the bitter heartbreak we all felt when our jerry-rigged video system let us all down at this premiere of the finest batch of films ever produced by NYSMF's film students.

Here, on a specially prepared webpage, are the six films that we all missed out seeing together on that day. As a special service, I have saved them as high-res Quicktime movies (Click here to download the free Quicktime Plug-In for your computer). These are gigantic files (up to 200mb in size for a 5-minute film), but will provide you with enough data to watch these films on your own TV sets or massive projection systems and not miss a single nuance of greatness.

This crop of films are truly wonderful. And they were all conceived, producted, filmed, edited, and polished in just 11 days! These NYSMFers love film, and I am very proud to present their works to you here. Enjoy!

  • My thanks, too, to Taylor Place, a NYSMF student who vocally defended my honor against a small group of taunters screaming for my blood, as I struggled to find a solution to the system's audio problems.
  • And my thanks to Steven, the tech-savvy parent who slapped together the system in Goodrich's lobby that showed the films on a loop for the remainder of the evening.

My apologies again to all of you for not being able to see these films on the big screen. Hopefully we can do a special screening to kick off next summer!
