Original Musical
Theatre:
Production& Workshop
In
this unique workshop, students write an original 45-minute
musical theatre production - in just 12 days.
The
group first learns the fundamentals of writing for musical
theatre (songs, lyrics, plays, comedy, and sketches), and
then every student is encouraged to create their own original
material, both individually and collaboratively.
Students
will also have opportunities to direct, choreograph, act,
and manage every aspect of the production.
Open
to all students.
Filmmaking
With
the maturity of digital video technology, creating a film
is simple. However, creating one thoughtfully and with a
capable mentor is the goal of this class.
Instructor
Keisuke Hoashi, a veteran of more than fifty professional
film productions, will work personally with each student
on the fundamentals of creating a film.
Working
in small groups, students will produce a film up to five
minutes long using basic film technology and learning the
process in three phases:
1)
Preproduction: scripting, storyboarding, scheduling, project
management
2)
Production: filming, camerawork, lighting, acting
3)
Postproduction: editing, special effects, A.D.R., voiceover
Students
will have access to a professional-level mini-D.V. camera
and an editing computer (Macintosh/iMovie).
